Also notable is that they are touring around soon. Wish they were coming to Denver. Jerks.

I think I might be a convert to Google's new browser. I just love it. Fast, secure, better CSS compatibility, etc. I highly recommend it to those out there not happy with their current browsers. I'm looking sternly at you, IE users.

The main reasons for me to visit the video streaming website are now gone. Announced today, Viacom has decided to pull The Daily Show, The Colbert Report and other Comedy Central content from Hulu at 11:59 PST on March 9. It’s presumably doing so because the income it receives from the online venture isn’t good enough.

How lame is that? Very lame is the answer.

“Sony has released a statement confirming that the problems are caused by a clock error. They hope to resolve the issue in 24 hours, but in the meantime, they've warned PS3 users not to turn on their systems. Doing so "may result in errors in some functionality, such as recording obtained trophies, and not being able to restore certain data.”

Laaaaaame! Come on Sony! Are you really going to let Leap Year knock out your systems???

I know what I want to spend my next paycheck on now that I have come across this beautiful book on I Love Typography's website. Gimme, gimme, gimme! Take a look at the linked page and look at how wonderfully architected all of his fonts were. Truly spectacular!

“Those two blocks can power the average high-consumption American home -- one block can power the average European home. At least that's the claim being made by K.R. Sridhar, founder of Bloom Energy, on 60 Minutes last night.

The original technology comes from an oxygen generator meant for a scrapped NASA Mars program that's been converted, with the help of an estimated $400 million in private funding, into a fuel cell. Bloom's design feeds oxygen into one side of a cell while fuel (natural gas, bio gas from landfill waste, solar, etc) is supplied to the other side to provide the chemical reaction required for power. The cells themselves are inexpensive ceramic disks painted with a secret green "ink" on one side and a black "ink" on the other. The disks are separated by a cheap metal alloy, instead of more precious metals like platinum, and stacked into a cube of varying capabilities -- a stack of 64 can power a small business like Starbucks.”

Ugh, I hate the CNET embeddable video player. Sorry for that. Too many ever-present controls. Haven't we learned that all controls for online videos should be user initiated? Take note from Vimeo or YouTube.

Well, I finally got out and saw Avatar last night in digital 3D. I had put it off for numerous reasons but am so happy that I finally got out and experienced what everyone else has been talking about. Just like you have heard, the acting and script are nothing to gush over but the visual experience is one I won't forget about anytime soon.

The new 3D is not the old 3D that I was expecting. Long gone are the days when you would have to view a whole movie with cardboard glasses, one lens blue and one red. Technology has come a long way and what you see up on the screen is truly hard to believe. It isn't so much that characters and items come flying at you causing you to duck in fear of getting hit so much as it give a rich, deep depth that I have never seen before.

In one sentence, just go see it... and if you do, go see it in 3D. There is truly no other way to see it now that I have seen what is possible.

Tough Guy Challenge

The 24th annual Tough Guy Challenge took place last weekend, on Sunday, January 31st, on South Perton Farm, near Wolverhampton, England. Despite being billed as "the safest most dangerous taste of physical and mental endurance pain in the world", this year's race still attracted over 5,000 men and women - all of them signing a disclaimer saying "It's my own bloody fault for being here". About 600 racers did not complete the course this year - the winner being Paul Jones of Oswestry, England, completing the course in one hour 18 minutes. The Challenge is annual event to raise cash for charity with funds going to the Mr. Mouse Farm for Unfortunates.

20 Years of Photoshop

This week marks the 20^th anniversary of the Adobe product that literally changed my life. I think that I first started tinkering around with Photoshop when it was in it's 3^rd iteration which was around 1995. From that moment, I loved how artistic I could be without using traditional methods. I have many fond memories playing around with brushes, colors and it's newest feature, LAYERS with Dan on my Apple 6300!

Through many iterations of the program (I am currently rocking CS4), I have remained thankful for the awesome tool that has been enriching my work and creativity.

I could go on and on about Photoshop but I won't. That last thing people want is for someone to get mushy about a piece of software, right? Instead, I will point you off to a great article about the history of Photoshop. For super PS nerds, I have included a video with one of the creators who gives a nice interview on it's history. Enjoy!
